Rip Curl began in 1969 with a love for the outdoors and a response to the breed of surfers in Torquay, Victoria. Founders Doug "Claw" Warbrick and Brian "Sing Ding" Singer wanted to keep surfing, and they found just the way to do it– by making surfboards! Before long, they found a niche in cold water wear. Rip Curl began producing diving wetsuits aiming to bring the technology to surfwear and eventually led to Rip Curl to become the market leaders in surfing wetsuits for forty-five years.
