Apres at Home with this Round-up of Snow Movies

The best snow flicks to keep your inner powder hound happy.

Dreaming of the Aussie ski season (at least for me) is an excellent way to fill the hot summer months and personally, dreaming of that first tree run has helped me to escape the monotony of quarantine.

But, now with most of Australians in various stages of lockdown and the Victorian ski season grinding to an unceremonious halt, winter looks a little different in 2020.

Today we have the responsibility to #stayhome and do our bit to help #flattenthecurve for the good of all. So, while we can’t hit the slopes today, we can dream. Dream of that first run through untouched pow or a bluebird groomer day with the mountain to yourself, dream of the trips we will take and the mountains we will visit when life finally goes back to normal.

So, to make this quarantine more enjoyable, and to entertain your inner rider, here are the best snow films that will help to transport you to the mountains, from the comfort of your living room.

Passenger - Chasing Winter around the Globe

A tremendous first watch – Watch as the Passenger team chase winter across four continents, a cinematic journey through some fantastic locations around the world.

The Art of Flight - Travis Rice

Truly a classic, one to be watched again and again. Some even call this the best snowboarding movie ever made.

Between - A Sisterhood of Ski and Surf

Celebrate the journey as this remarkable group of female skiers and surfers ride in epic location and chase the adventure of a lifetime.

Ode to Muir - Teton Gravity Research

This list would be incomplete without Jeremy Jones, who calls this the most important film he ever made! This movie combines snowboarding and environmentalism in California’s High Sierra.

Roadless - Teton Gravity Research

Where they’re going, they don’t need roads—another one from TGR to transport you into the wilderness of Wyoming.

Drop Everything - Matchstick Productions

MSP is a staple of every ski movie lineup. Watch some of the world’s top freeskiers in this high-octane film; it’s sure to get your blood pumping.

Winterland - Teton Gravity Research

This film brings us back to the roots of skiing and snowboarding. This adventurous crew follows the path of many of the greats and leave their mark on some of the world’s best locations.

Same Difference - The Disciplines of Modern Skiing

For those who thought skiing was just, skiing. You were wrong. Follow some of the world’s best deep into the wilderness and learn about the different ways you can make it down a mountain with planks strapped to your feet.

The best part of this movie is the soundtrack: get it here:

As the Crow Flies - Pirate Movie Production

Powerhouse shredding through a spooky ancient mountain ghost town and unbeatable Alaskan spines on a mission to find the best snow. This is a shorter movie that will have you on the edge of your seat.

Boom! - Nitro Snowboard

Nitro has one of the best teams out there, the perfect combination of action, good times and awesome vibes.

Most of these movies are available for free on Red Bull TV, YouTube, MSP Films or Netflix Australia.

So, get watching, learn something new, and we’ll see you when the lifts start turning. Think we missed one, make sure to share it with us on Facebook or Instagram (@auskiaustralia)!
