Profile: C2 Banana
Lib Tech’s C2 Banana profile is perhaps the perfect hybrid, and with a couple of variations, is found on over half of the Lib Tech fleet! Travis Rice helped to develop this C2 Banana bend and it provides smooth control and excellent precision for all types of terrain including groomers, powder and the terrain park.
There is plenty of pop and snap from the camber sections under your feet, and you get the use of your full edge thanks to the rocker in the middle of the board. The nose and tail are rockered up like a banana for easy float without having to shift your weight back and burn out your back leg!
The C2e variation tones down the camber slightly, giving you more forgiveness and easy relaxed riding. The C2x variation has slightly more camber for a little more aggression, control and pop for a more lively ride.
I took a C2 board with me to Japan last season and I always felt like I had made the right choice! We had no new snow for the first couple of days and I could ride fast and controlled on the trails and really push it. Then when the snow came, I floated above the pow and was able to ride so smoothly!
Construction: Original Power Construction
Original Power Construction provides you with a light weight yet strong core. These boards are constructed using 75% Aspen and 25% Paulownia woods laid in strips to give you great strength and liveliness. Then there is a strong strip of Birch that runs the length of the sidewalls that protects the edges from hard rail hits. The core is wrapped in recycled UHMWP (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene!!) which is fancy speak for really durable plastic. The tip and tail have larger sections of this for awesome impact protection, but the UHMWP runs all around the board. The fibreglass used is laid out in either two (Bi-Ax) or thee (Tri-Ax) directions, which helps to create the tip to tail flex rating, and side-to-side or torsional stiffness. A torsionally stiffer board will move from edge to edge more quickly for faster and sharper turns. The base is Eco Sublimated TNT which is hard-wearing and nice and fast and takes wax well. Some models feature a sintered base which will soak up wax really well and run super-fast! These are classed as OP+ Construction
Edge Tech: Magne-Traction
Magne-Traction technology is like a serrated knife along your edge providing edge hold like you’ve never felt! This worked a treat for me on my last trip to Perisher when it was really solid, and they hadn’t had much snow. The runs were hard packed (ice!!) and I was able to hold my edges really well without feeling like I was going to slide.
These edge serrations, or wavy bumps, are placed at just the right places to take full advantage of your weight on the board and how it bends to ensure that you always have an edge in the snow. Even in the iciest conditions, Magne-Traction will bite and hold!
