Profile: C3 Banana
The C3 Banana shape puts more control under your feet while still providing great use of your entire edge for carving. This is without a doubt the most aggressive profile in Lib Tech’s range and is designed for high performance riding! The board is predominantly cambered so you get the most pop and power for carving turns combined with great stability.
The C3 Banana then adds a miro-rocker between your feet, and this is the secret – just enough rocker to engage the full edge without sacrificing the control of a full camber board.
I have had some real fun on this board profile! I was able to lay down some great carve lines and never felt uneasy about losing an edge.
Construction: Original Power Construction + Sintered Base (OP+)
Original Power Construction provides you with a light weight yet strong core. These boards are constructed using 75% Aspen and 25% Paulownia woods laid in strips to give you great strength and liveliness. Then there is a strong strip of Birch that runs the length of the sidewalls that protects the edges from hard rail hits. The core is wrapped in recycled UHMWP (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene!!) which is fancy speak for really durable plastic. The tip and tail have larger sections of this for awesome impact protection, but the UHMWP runs all around the board. The fibreglass used is laid out in either two (Bi-Ax) or thee (Tri-Ax) directions, which helps to create the tip to tail flex rating, and side-to-side or torsional stiffness. A torsionally stiffer board will move from edge to edge more quickly for faster and sharper turns. The base is Eco Sublimated TNT which is hard-wearing and nice and fast and takes wax well. Some models feature a sintered base which will soak up wax really well and run super-fast! These are classed as OP+ Construction
Edge Tech: Magne-Traction
Magne-Traction technology is like a serrated knife along your edge providing edge hold like you’ve never felt! This worked a treat for me on my last trip to Perisher when it was really solid, and they hadn’t had much snow. The runs were hard packed (ice!!) and I was able to hold my edges really well without feeling like I was going to slide.
These edge serrations, or wavy bumps, are placed at just the right places to take full advantage of your weight on the board and how it bends to ensure that you always have an edge in the snow. Even in the iciest conditions, Magne-Traction will bite and hold!
